God Gives

The most generous person in the universe is God. And God’s gift of grace does not fuel grasping or greed; grace begets grace. As Paul appeals for financial gifts from the Corinthian church, he anticipates cheerful giving because "God is able to make all grace abound so that they may abound in every good work." Gladness in giving is directly tied to gladness for grace, as Paul exclaims at the end of his appeal, "Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift." Indeed, the grace of Jesus is a gift, and those who know grace give generously. This series will lead us to discover that the core issue is not so much about our giving but about our embrace of God's grace. Generosity is not about what God wants from us but what he wants for us.
